Okay, okay, I know I still haven’t finished my Go-Beerkada: The Rise Of The Jhologs review yet, but this piece of news caught my eye and I really can’t resist blogging about it.

So, over at Marvel, the X-Books are preparing for this big event called X Necrosha. Here’s the solicitation for the one shot that’ll kick off the crossover, helpfully provided by IGN:
Death has come to the X-Men. The one true Black Queen has returned, and she wants nothing less than every soul of mutantkind…dead or alive. And everyone that’s ever crossed Selene is going to pay. The dead rise, familiar faces haunt mutants across the world, and Selene takes her final steps into becoming a god.
It all begins here in a full-length X-FORCE extravaganza, and continues in the pages of next month’s issue of X-FORCE…but the shockwaves of this terrifying event will be felt in NEW MUTANTS and X-MEN: LEGACY as well, and those reverberations begin here in two all-new bonus tales.
… really, Marvel? I love zombies and all, but… what the flying fuck?

KomiKon Week: Obligatory Filler Entry
Posted in fillerI know we’re supposed to do some KomiKon reviews, but we’re busy and all. And for that, we apologize.
In the meantime, here’s a picture of Toad rimming Iron Man.

We hope that suffices for our lack of updates.

KomiKon Week: Go-Beerkada: The Rise of the Jhologs – Review Part 1
Posted in Indie, Local, Reviews, pinoy comicsThis is KomiKon Week at Comicgasm, and although I wasn’t there (something I so utterly regret), I had a good friend pick up a copy of Lyndon Gregorio’s Go-Beerkada: The Rise of the Jhologs.

Before I go on rambling about the review, the way my friend was able to acquire this little piece of comic book history is a bit of a story by itself. You see, ever since it was advertised on Beerkada’s website, I wanted to get my hands on Go-Beerkada.
So when KomiKon came and I didn’t have time to go there, I immediately bugged a friend to buy me a copy of Go-Beerkada. Unfortunately, he has never heard of Beerkada before. How the heck that happened, I don’t know. Anyway, he was going around Megatrade Hall looking for the elusive Beerkada graphic novel. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello there boys and girls! This is RJ and Ade reporting once more with another joint post! As any comic book geek worth his or her salt knows, yesterday just so happened to be the most important day to any comic enthusiast, especially the ones with a fondness for local comics. Yesterday was KomiKon 2009! Huzzah!
[RJ: Okay Ade, that opening paragraph was just horrible, you see. It's fucking cheesy. That is one big-ass run on sentence. Also, it came off as a bit gay.
ADE: What- whatever RJ, you get to have your name first in the introduction even though I wrote that shit. Fag.]
<this is the part where you write something, RJ>
Okay, so the Comicgasm crew [that’s me and three other guys… wut] and I [The only one who actually went to Komikon... wut] will be doing a week-long event to commemorate our local komiks[and hopefully get free stuff from them... wut].
Also, even though Ade wasn’t able to attend the said event, he was able to lay his grubby hands on a copy of Go-Beerkada. Aside from the obligatory half-assed review (something the Comicgasm crew should totally stop Ade from doing), [ ADE: GODDAMMIT RJ WHAT ARE YOU INSERTING IN MY BEAUTIFUL PARAGRAPH NO I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT YOUR DICK] he’s also going to talk at length about how a friend of his embarassed himself in front of Lyndon Gregorio [RJ: WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR FRIEND WE'RE DOING COMICS HERE NOT REAL LIFE OKAY IT'S MY TURN]
Ok, before we drive all our readers away… We’ve decided to make several Komikon-related posts and reviews. Here’s what’s gonna happen in the next few days :
- RJ will write about cosplay [Correction, Costrip. THERE WAS NO COSPLAY EVENT! DAMN WEEABOOS!], about the event itself and will review Kubori Kikiam and Kiko Machine
- Fiel and David will be reviewing Trese: Mass Murders and Bayan Knights #3 [FIEL & DAVID: Um, we are? Wait, we don't even have Wave accounts! How is this even possible!]
- And Ade, the something something of the something something <insert penis joke here>, will be reviewing Go-Beerkada and Komikero Anthology #3
- Up next should totally be a closing paragraph.
So yeah, people. Please do enjoy as we take you to a crazy ride through KomiKon week! Also, if the entry’s schizoprenic nature is confusing you, please note that this was the first-ever Comicgasm post written in Google Wave! Yep, what you are reading right is now a little piece of comic book blogging history. [RJ: Comic book blogging history? Is there even such a thing? ADE: I'm winging it here, man.]
And before we end up killing each other this post, we’d like to thank the Komikon organizers for making this event happen! See you next year!
P.S. I think we’ve confused the reader well enough.
P.P.S. Stop dicking around in Wave, Ade RJ.
P.P.P.S. MABUHAY ANG PEKPEK!

Blog Action Day hey Ade think of a title
Posted in MISCHey guys, this is the first-ever Comicgasm joint entry! Well, it’s just Ade and RJ (coz Fiel has way too much in his hands right now, mind you), and what we’re doing here is Comicgasm’s little bit of civic duty! We’re going to help save the earth.

So guys, remember, it’s Blog Action Daaaaay! Except it’s about to end in 15 minutes! But hey, it’s still noon in New York!
You see, Captain Planet visited the Comicgasm offices today. We were all busy getting handjobs from Eastern European prostitutes working hard to write the high-quality kind of comic book reviews Comicgasm is known for: a little rushed and done half-heartedly, and peppered liberally with dick jokes. Then OMGSH it’s Captain Planet tapping our windows with that creepy pedo-smile of his! Read the rest of this entry »

Why my wallet hates me: Planet X Anniversary, Komikon 09 and Comic Quest 3-Day Sale
Posted in Events, Indie, Real Life stuffI’ve been emo and single for the past 5 days, only reason I’m posting is because Ade and Fiel threatened to steal my alcohol collection if I dont(they know where I live). But I realized that there’s no better way to keep my state of denial than distracting myself with geeky hobbies(and alcohol). And what do we have here? THREE comic book events this weekend? Why must you do this to me? WHY?
Due to Typhoon Pepeng, this event has been postponed and moved to 17 October 2009 with same time schedule. I’ll be wearing my Red Lantern shirt, feel free to invade my personal space.
- October 18, 2009
- 10 am – 9pm
- Megatrade Hall 1, 5th Level Bldg. B, SM Megamall

I know you people have been holding your breath for the longest time for this, but those looking for a grand reunion of the Avengers might see what they’re looking for in Marvel’s new four-issue event, called The Siege.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Olivier Coipel, The Siege spells the end of Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign. According to Bendis, the reunion of the big three (Iron Man, Captain America and Thor) is very instrumental to the end of Dark Reign. It’s a “seismic shift in the Avengers books” akin to that of Avengers Disassembled. Read the rest of this entry »

I dunno where RJ gets these things.

Okay, the Archie universe is beginning to be as convoluted as DC and Marvel.
According to Canada.com (lol), Archie’s married adventures in the future are far from over.
Back in May, it was revealed Archie would finally ditch his wishy-washy Riverdale High School persona and get hitched. The pronouncement caused a huge media buzz and led to editorial columns debating the virtues of marrying the pleasant, blond Betty versus hooking up with Veronica, the often-bad-tempered brunette.
Well, it seems the redhead with the checkerboard hair is living some sort of a six-part dreamlike existence in which he is walking down a road called Memory Lane. In the first scenario, released in an edition last month, Archie walks toward a fork in the road and turns left, allowing him to see his life after a marriage to Veronica. This time, he walks to the right and envisions a future with Betty as his bride. In each sequence, Archie ends up with twins.
Also, from NY Times:
This alternative future will be a relief to the fans who reacted negatively to the marriage to Veronica. “The polls that I’ve seen ran about 80/20, Betty over Veronica, with Jughead continually coming in a strong third,” said Mr. Uslan, a comic-book historian.
LOL.
Ok, so now that Archie Comics have introduced the concept of alternate timelines in their universe, epic major crossover anyone?
Know what I think? I think Archie Comics should’ve just stuck to their guns with the Archie-Ronnie marriage and came up with a married Archie spinoff. Now that’s something I would want to read.
And if they feel that they can’t get Archie out of the marriage without aging him, there’s always Mephisto.
P.S. I fear that Archie comics may jump the shark after all of this.
