NO NO NOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO [New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser]

by on Mar.15, 2011, under Cartoons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I have nothing but hate for this video. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hold a special place in my fat, geeky heart, and the 2003 cartoon was almost perfect.

I can write a thousand word essay on everything that is wrong with the teaser, but I think you’ll have to do with the next sentence. WHAT THE SHIT BAD CGI AND BLADES ON DONATELLO AND MICHELANGELO’S WEAPONS JESUS CHRIST TURTLES FOREVER WAS PERFECT NO MORE PLEASE.

Now excuse me while I do a rage quit.

Review: Young Justice – Independence Day

by on Nov.28, 2010, under Cartoons, DC, Reviews

To be honest, I wasn’t really enthused with this new Young Justice cartoon. I wasn’t really a Teen Titans fan, and this cartoon, even though it carried the name of the awesome series by Peter David, wasn’t the same team from that comic. First, Robin was Dick Grayson, and not Tim Drake. Okay, I understood that Dick was the most iconic Robin. Most non-nerds (who will probably make up a huge part of the audience) aren’t even aware that there have been a lot of Robins already. I think I can live with that. Kid Flash is Wally West, not Bart Allen, which is fine with me. However, the disturbing lack of Wonder Girl, and having Arrowette stand-in for the obligatory strong female character is not something I liked.

What got me excited about Young Justice, however, was the concept – it was a completely different approach from all versions of the young superhero sidekick team we’ve all seen before. Here, let me quote Wikipedia for you because I’ve tried to write the next sentence a billion times but I can’t just fucking get it right:

The show is set in Earth-16, a DC Multiverse world, and corresponds to the present time of our world — a time period Vietti has called “a new age of heroes.” The recently founded (three to four years in activity) Justice League is a powerful organization of superheroes who find themselves becoming “high-powered, high-wattage celebrities” tracked closely by the public. As it grows increasingly difficult for the Justice League to operate outside the spotlight, the supervillains take advantage of their opponents’ prominence while becoming better at organizing and working under the radar. Meanwhile, the teenaged sidekicks of several Justice League members feel they are ready to graduate on to the next level and become more independent. Consequently, Batman organizes the teens to fill the need for a covert operations team while keeping their protégés under their authority.

Okay. There. The concept of a covert ops team made entirely out of sidekicks appealed to me. In fact, this sounds pretty awesome. And the fact that it’s set in Earth-16 made the show more interesting for me to watch, because that means if it happens on the show, it affects the DC comic multiverse. (continue reading…)

Planet Hulk The Movie

by on Jul.29, 2009, under Cartoons, Hulk, Marvel, Movies

Guys. Just when I thought I was finished gushing over the Iron Man anime, Marvel pulls another fast one on us. I mean, come on guys, when will you stop blowing our brains out with awesome?

OMG *squee* YOU GUYS.

Okay, that Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow movie sucked on so many levels (even though Bim liked it) I refuse to elaborate on it any further, but Planet Hulk I am sure to watch. How can they make Hulk punching aliens in the face suck? Please tell me you’re going to make World War Hulk, Civil War and Secret Invasion next. Pretty please?

The Iron Man anime looks pretty good

by on Jul.27, 2009, under Anime, Cartoons, Iron Man, Marvel, Wolverine

There are very few things in life that are capable of making me scream like a little girl.

One would be if Emma Watson comes over and asks to fellate me. Another is if somebody leaves “8======D” as a comment on my blog. But never before have I thought that Tony Stark will make me run around and scream like a little girl.

I’m pretty much a newbie Iron Man fan. I’ve always thought of him as a second-stringer but Bim’s incessant yakking about Iron Man made me check him out. And now I’m a total Iron Man fanboy, thanks to Bim, RDJ, and Matt Fraction (tee-hee).

Also, the 90′s cartoon was awesome. Too bad that teen Tony show, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, sucks as much as a two-cent whore on Thanksgiving (what). So I wasn’t excited when they announced the Iron Man anime. Well, I’ve never really paid attention until they released the trailer:

So. I’ll give you a few minutes to scrape your brain off the wall behind you, because I’m sure your head’s been pretty much blown to bits. By the way, Warren Fucking Ellis is writing this.

IN OTHER NOT-SO-INTERESTING NEWS: The Wolverine trailer, with bishonen Logan-chan, is uninteresting. Maybe if they cut the stupid mullet?

What do you guys think?
