Green Lantern WonderCon Footage is all sorts of amazing
by Ade Magnaye on Apr.03, 2011, under DC, Green Lantern, Movies
The Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan was on my most-anticipated films a couple of years back. However, by the time they showed us a preview of that horrible, horrible costume, and with the very lackluster trailer, my anticipation for this film waned down to a barely-audible “meh.” Green Lantern’s a favorite character of mine and it feels like the filmmakers were doing their best to strip from the movie everything that made the comic so great.
And I felt that way, until I saw this 4-minute video showing footage from WonderCon. This short clip totally restored my faith in my the movie. I’ll let the footage speak for itself.
Opening in 3D and 2D theaters on June 17, the Martin Campbell-directed action adventure stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney and Geoffrey Rush.
The costume still sucks, though.
What do you think of this new footage?
Full-Length ‘Green Lantern’ Trailer Is Out!
by Ade Magnaye on Nov.18, 2010, under DC, Green Lantern, Movies, News

Okay, I was going to write about the incredibly stupid publicity photos from the Spider-Man musical featuring music by Bono, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark (come to think of it, the title is also incredibly retarded) but I just realized that there’s a better piece of news that just came out, and this is probably something we all can agree on to be incredibly awesome. That Spider-Man play will have to wait. You see, the first trailer for the upcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds is out! I’ve been a huge GL fan since Sinestro Corps War, and seeing one of my favorite comic book characters will be on the big screen soon is a huge deal, really.
Check out the trailer and some of my thoughts after the jump. (continue reading…)
‘Green Lantern’ Movie Power Battery and S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier from ‘Avengers’ Revealed!
by Ade Magnaye on Oct.19, 2010, under DC, Green Lantern, Marvel, Movies
I think it’s no secret that I totally hated Hal Jordan’s costume for the Green Lantern movie. Seriously, look at it. It’s like they stuck a huge pile of moldy bacon all over Ryan Reynolds. I know it’s meant to be alien-looking and all, but it’s been a few months already and I still can’t get myself into liking it. Now they’ve revealed how the movie Power Battery looks like and it’s still very, very alien-looking and all – in fact, it’s a huge departure from the way it looks like in the comics – but here’s the thing: I actually like it. Huh.

To be honest, I don’t like the alien glyphs going all around the sides of the power battery – how Matrix can you get, really? – but I like the basic design well enough. It looks alien, which is pretty much the underlying theme in all of the Green Lantern designs we’ve seen so far. I can live with it. I hope this is how Hal Jordan’s CGI costume ends up, because it will destroy some mean shit. (continue reading…)

Over at Comicbookmovie.com, they have gotten their hands on seven Green Lantern aliens from the upcoming movie starring Ryan Reynolds, and if they are legit, the movie costumes and character designs are pretty close to the comics – with the exception of Hal Jordan’s costume, of course.
The seven aliens are Boodikka, Bzzd, Morro, Galius Zed, M’Dahna, Rot Lop Fan, and Salaak.

First off, the official Green Lantern movie logo:
Looking good.
And the SDCC goodies just keep on coming. Warner Brothers has just released teaser posters for the upcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds. We have four posters in all, featuring a portion of the Green Lantern oath, and as much as I hate the (unfinished) Green Lantern costume, the posters are giving me hope for this film.
Check out the teaser posters after the break.
