YES! My first post after a hiatus and my first Marvel related post at the same time. Looking at the current Disney buying Marvel context, I wonder if the 2011 movie Hands of Shang Chi will have Disney’s say on it?

But does anybody know Shang Chi? Well he was called the master of Kung fu in the Marvel universe and is highly similar to Iron Fist in terms of background but without any special powers except for being a Bruce Lee on steroids.

This was of course, highly influenced by the Bruce Lee craze that made everyone dancing to “Everybody was kung Fu Fiiiiiiighting (huhah!)” – and Marvel probably wanted to get a piece of this by making their own character based on him.

Being a fan of kung fu myself, I just wanted to put some attention to a character and THEME which in my opinion, isn’t given the kind of limelight it really deserves. For those like me who currently adore the works of Jackie Chan, Jet Li & Stephen Chow a comic with a really acute kung fu theme would be awesome!

HEAR ME MARVEL! (and Disney) make the movie, revive the comic and you’ll see me hurrying to the stores to buy my copy of Shang Chi instead of me downloading it from torrent.

   I think they did. But he’s a relatively unknown character – it is a surprise that they are actually doing a movie on him. He’s my brother’s second favorite character to Iron Fist in Marvel.
