Welcome back traveller! Let me, Ade, treat you to this week’s unbelievably-late-but-still-ass-kicking reviews, brought to you only by Comicgasm.

Ok, Black Mask, let’s see some of that pimp hand you’re famous for.

Batman #692

This is Tony Daniel’s first Batman issue. I’m really not too keen on reading his run on Batman because I’ve been left utterly unimpressed by Battle Of The Cowl.

And really, I am disappointed with this issue. There are quite a few problems with this issue – Daniel crammed way too many story threads. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys, the reviews are back. I’m taking a break from my “pleasuring Comicgasm’s secret harem of hot and willing women” duties to take some time to actually read some comics and write a review.

By the way, if you haven’t heard yet, Comicgasm is a finalist in the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards! We’d like to thank our readers (both of you) and our mothers for constantly visiting this blog. And because we’re going to party like it’s 1993 after this review, I’m going to put on my YAY! face.

Amazing Spider-Man #606

As usual, Peter Parker’s problems pile up and he’s all mister whiney mcdouche again. But it doesn’t mean we can’t sit back and enjoy and say “whew, am I ever so glad that shit isn’t happening to me.” Read the rest of this entry »

Blackest_Night_Superman_by_Bakanekonei

Well me and RJ just came home from discovering the secret tribe of hot Tibetan women. But when we told them that we were unwilling to impregnate them, they chased us out using poison-tipped spears. RJ is still traumatized so I guess it will be just me making a post for now.

Blackest Night: Superman looks like it will be a good series on its own! Even without it being too tied up with the Green Lantern story (for now), the concept of Kal-L and the rest of the dead cast of Superman & Co. stands out quite well.

Much to my disappointment (just a bit) they really didn’t kill anyone major this time around. As we have found out, the Black Lanterns of Earth 1 / Sector 2814 / just Earth if you are not a geek are forming their own Justice League – who are of course EVIIIL zombies with superpowers.

I am a bit iffy at the fact though that so far, Blackest Night is seeming to be redundant. Basic plot line is as follows: Somebody dead rises and that somebody dead makes living superheroes feel bad about themselves by saying over and over where they went wrong – and they punch each others’ faces out for no apparent reason.

This is why Superman became EMO in the issue:

Lest I spoil the comic too much, I won’t reveal anything else. Overall it is a good comic and a series that commands high potential and expectations. I just hope Blackest Night will go further than the plot lines that they have been using for now – such as revealing WHAT the Black Lanterns are after, WHY they see the living as a combination of emotions and WHAT is with their power levels?

One last thing though just to spoil you if you haven’t read it, but not only did Kal-L (Earth 2 Superman) become a Black Lantern, but so did Zor-El and Earth-2 Lois Lane. YIKES! That oughta teach you to read the comic before the review!

If you are following Blackest Night, needless to say a must-read. 4/5 stars.
