Welcome back! Don't forget to subscribe to the Comicgasm RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Now that the decade is about to end, the Comicgasm staff will walk you through the worst comics of 2000-2009 and why they suck.

Ultimatum is what happens when you get Magneto to reverse the magnetic poles, flood New York, and practically kill half the superhuman population. He’s killing people because A ROBOT WHO FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SCARLET WITCH KILLED HER, SPARKING A BATTLE THAT ULTIMATELY KILLED QUICKSLIVER TOO. Everybody goes crazy and THEY KILL ONE ANOTHER IN THE BLOODIEST, MESSIEST, AND CRAPPIEST WAY POSSIBLE because this is a realistic world and it’s grim and gritty, right? Also, throw in some characters who EAT CORPSES JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT even though they’ve never shown any signs of cannibalism before. Read the rest of this entry »

I know you people have been holding your breath for the longest time for this, but those looking for a grand reunion of the Avengers might see what they’re looking for in Marvel’s new four-issue event, called The Siege.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Olivier Coipel, The Siege spells the end of Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign. According to Bendis, the reunion of the big three (Iron Man, Captain America and Thor) is very instrumental to the end of Dark Reign. It’s a “seismic shift in the Avengers books” akin to that of Avengers Disassembled. Read the rest of this entry »

REVIEWS: Amazing Spider-Man #606, Archie #601, Superman: Secret Origin #1
Posted in DC, Marvel, ReviewsHey guys, the reviews are back. I’m taking a break from my “pleasuring Comicgasm’s secret harem of hot and willing women” duties to take some time to actually read some comics and write a review.
By the way, if you haven’t heard yet, Comicgasm is a finalist in the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards! We’d like to thank our readers (both of you) and our mothers for constantly visiting this blog. And because we’re going to party like it’s 1993 after this review, I’m going to put on my YAY! face.

This is my YAY! face
Amazing Spider-Man #606
As usual, Peter Parker’s problems pile up and he’s all mister whiney mcdouche again. But it doesn’t mean we can’t sit back and enjoy and say “whew, am I ever so glad that shit isn’t happening to me.” Read the rest of this entry »

This image sums up all of the reasons why I love comics.

I don’t find either issue as awesome as the previous ones and some of the prelude issues, but I do have this to say:
DEATH, DEATH, DEATH EVERYWHERE!!!
Comics is generally known to kill some of its characters. But Blackest Night REALLY takes it to the nth level by:
1. Killing more and more characters
2. Turning them into zombies.
3. A supposed “War of Light” of rainbow colored beings is supposed to save the universe. (THINK Power Rangers.)
Sounds like a lame concept? It sure as hell is!
But the awesome Geoff Johns MAKES. IT. WORK.
To be honest, I don’t even know where to start. I’ll start with this advice: read BACK. (No I mean REALLY read back.) Blackest Night is such a vast arc that everyone is practically tied in! To be able to connect with the various characters in their experience of death requires that the reader knows what they have been through.
This is their way of making one-series readers like me read everything else.
Which leads me to my second advice: READ WIDE. Read Batman, Superman, Titans, Red Robin, Justice League, Justice Society: EVERYTHING.
If there is one thing we know about superheroes, it is that they have an unending list of dead relatives and friends. And oh yeah, THEY DIE. There are a lot of Black Rings to go around – so I repeat: READ EVERYTHING.
As for my review I guess that is pretty much it! – There is NO WAY I see that I can make a review without spoiling anything except by saying DEATH IS EVERYWHERE.
One last thing: if you think the ending of Blackest Night #1 was awesome? Check out Blackest Night #2’s ending. (Super Scary) 4.5/5 stars.
One uber last thing: Green Lantern Corps #39 was well written, but 70% of the important details in it are things that have either been revealed or are assumed. 3.5/5 stars.

Team Reviews: JSA, JLA and Teen Titans
Posted in DCHey kiddies, this uber uber late entry is all about me whining about the DC teams.
Firstly, Teen Titans!
Nothing really new. Same teen angst, same teen drama. Wonder Girl is still emo, somehow keeping the team from killing themselves with their wacky shenanigans. I’m really amused with Aquagirl openly hitting on Blue Beetle, I sense a catfight with Traci in the near future(YES PLZ). She also replaced Rose as the casually naked chick.

SDCC 2009 Cosplay: Why it’s a glorious time to be a geek
Posted in DC, Events, Marvel, News, Real Life stuff, gademitOkay, so the San Diego Comic Con just finished this weekend, and us pissed-off people from the other side of the world are saying hi to you fuckers lucky enough to set foot in that once-a-year event where nerd dreams come true. And you don’t tell me to stop whining; buy me a plane ticket to San Diego next year and I’ll shut up.
If you still don’t agree with me, here’s a picture of Sarah Palin dancing to that Wonder Girls song.

If you think the reason why I’m fuming here is because I missed yet another load of geeky news about our favorite comics, TV shows, and movies, you’re wrong. Read the rest of this entry »
