Review: Siege #1, Red Robin #8

by on Jan.09, 2010, under DC, Marvel, Reviews

I totally forgot I was actually writing for this here blog for a while. Heh. Sorry about that. Now I’ll be updating Comicgasm with the help of my spiffy new laptop, so you can expect me to post here more frequently! Yay?

Siege #1

Finally! We’re at the end of Dark Reign, and we get to see Norman Osborn’s fall from grace. He and Loki engineer a disaster that rivals the Stamford incident in Civil War, and we see Osborn assembling the Dark Avengers and the entire freaking Initiatve taking on the floating city of Asgard. Avengers Re-Assemble?

by on Oct.13, 2009, under Iron Man, Marvel

I know you people have been holding your breath for the longest time for this, but those looking for a grand reunion of the Avengers might see what they’re looking for in Marvel’s new four-issue event, called The Siege.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Olivier Coipel, The Siege spells the end of Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign. According to Bendis, the reunion of the big three (Iron Man, Captain America and Thor) is very instrumental to the end of Dark Reign. It’s a “seismic shift in the Avengers books” akin to that of Avengers Disassembled. (continue reading…)

Captain America: Who Will Wield The Shield?

by on Sep.23, 2009, under Marvel

So the solicitation for this cover goes:

Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils & Cover by BUTCH GUICE
Steve Rogers has returned, but Bucky Barnes is the current Captain America, and has come into his own in the role. Will there be two Captain Americas? Will Bucky go back to being the Winter Soldier? What will happen? Decisions, decisions, decisions….

Who else thinks this will be one long “You take the shield Steve,” and then “No, Bucky, you’ve earned it,” repeated ad nauseam?

Know what I wanna see? I wanna see Bucky keep on being Captain America and then Steve Rogers taking over S.H.I.E.L.D. and kicking Norman Osborn’s ass through the streets of New York. And Rogers can basically rebuild the superhero community to pre-Civil War status quo.

Now that would be righteous.

Reviews: Captain America Reborn #2, Amazing Spider-Man #601, Justice League: Cry For Justice #2

by on Aug.07, 2009, under DC, Marvel, Reviews

Okay, so this is the first time I’ll ever do a review for Comicgasm. I spend two weeks here doing nothing but stall, copy Chris Sims, take comic book panels out of context, and make the occasional gay joke or two. It’s time I write something real here.

Okay this is my pull list for this week:

Justice League: Cry For Justice #2

Man, this is NOT a good book.

James Robinson has been one of my favorite writers. And who doesn’t love the way he turned Krypto into the awesome super pet sidekick he’s supposed to be? I was so excited for this book ever since it was announced.

The art is as always, gorgeous, and I’m waiting for the concept of a proactive superhero team to work, without it becoming too violent and X-treme (X-Force, no matter how awesome you’ve been, you remind me too much of the Liefeld!90′s). (continue reading…)
