REVIEW: Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1
by Ade Magnaye on May.16, 2010, under batman, Reviews
There’s really nothing much to say here. This issue is fantastic. You see, Batman just shows up immediately after the end of Final Crisis, emerging from the cave as the hairy-chested love god that he is…
… and he proceeds to wear a gigantic bat, and beats up a bunch of evil cavemen led by Vandal Savage. How could anyone not love shit like that.
Archie: Riverdale Shore
by Ade Magnaye on Apr.22, 2010, under Archie

Okay. Guys, this is real. I am not kidding. Those guys at Archie Comics are going to create a Jersey Shore mash-up, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Reggie (who is a big douchemuncher to begin with) will rechristen himself as “The Complication,” and get six-pack abs. More from StyleList:
Archie’s red hair is gelled up into a Pauly D do, and newcomer Cheryl Blossom (now known as Snookums) sports an impressive pouf that would make Snooki proud. Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of their gang will also undergo similar transformations, and an Archie Comics rep tells StyleList that Veronica’s parents, Mr. Lodge and Mrs. Lodge, get made over “Jersey Shore”-style too!
Now I can’t decide if this is the greatest thing ever or if this is a sign that the fall of Western Civilization is at hand.
Archie Comics is no stranger to pop-culture references (have you seen all those dated 70′s pop-culture jokes they still publish in those Digests?) but this is like the first time they’ve published something that’s not at least six years obsolete. I mean, wow. And of all the things they have to use, they had to choose fucking Jersey Shore? I don’t know if they’re doing this as a spoof or if they’re really in love with Jersey Shore, but I’m reading this once it comes out.
Reviews: Captain America Reborn #2, Amazing Spider-Man #601, Justice League: Cry For Justice #2

Okay, so this is the first time I’ll ever do a review for Comicgasm. I spend two weeks here doing nothing but stall, copy Chris Sims, take comic book panels out of context, and make the occasional gay joke or two. It’s time I write something real here.
Okay this is my pull list for this week:
Justice League: Cry For Justice #2
Man, this is NOT a good book.
James Robinson has been one of my favorite writers. And who doesn’t love the way he turned Krypto into the awesome super pet sidekick he’s supposed to be? I was so excited for this book ever since it was announced.
The art is as always, gorgeous, and I’m waiting for the concept of a proactive superhero team to work, without it becoming too violent and X-treme (X-Force, no matter how awesome you’ve been, you remind me too much of the Liefeld!90′s). (continue reading…)
Team Reviews: JSA, JLA and Teen Titans
by RJ on Aug.05, 2009, under DC
Hey kiddies, this uber uber late entry is all about me whining about the DC teams.
Firstly, Teen Titans!
Nothing really new. Same teen angst, same teen drama. Wonder Girl is still emo, somehow keeping the team from killing themselves with their wacky shenanigans. I’m really amused with Aquagirl openly hitting on Blue Beetle, I sense a catfight with Traci in the near future(YES PLZ). She also replaced Rose as the casually naked chick.
