We at Comicgasm feel that geekery has permeated all facets of pop culture by now. We see comic book movies dominate the summer box office, nerd-oriented shows air on TV, and it’s very rare that you find a single person with no knowledge at all of one single comic book character. With this, it’s not surprising at all to find musicians everywhere writing ballads for their favorite comic book characters. Every Monday, we at Comicgasm are going to feature a song from our favorite nerd rock musicians.

Kirby Krackle stands out from most nerd-rock bands because, aside from writing really good lyrics, they are actually good musicians. Their catchy hooks and technical riffs really stand out, and if you listen to their songs without paying attention to the lyrics, you’d think this is some regular rock band playing on mainstream radio stations. Aren’t you glad they’re writing songs about Wolverine, the Transformers, Green Lantern, and The Great Lakes Avengers?

Here’s their latest single, Super Powered Love, off the album of the same name. This may not talk about a particular superheroine, but this is a great nerdy song just the same. Enjoy!

Yes, the guy who played Johnny Storm in those HORRIBLE Fantastic Four movies is now going to play Captain America. And as I’m writing this, the internet actually broke in two as people are ranting non-stop on their LiveJournals about how bad this casting choice is, and they’re probably arranging a protest at Marvel Studios right now, so they can storm the shit out of the building and kill whoever did that decision.
