Welcome back! Don't forget to subscribe to the Comicgasm RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Honestly, I didn’t find most of this week’s releases great. I got an overpriced copy of Doom Patrol #4 (courtesy of RJ) so I can get that blasted Sinestro Corps Ring. Honestly I don’t know anything much about Doom Patrol except that the X-Men ripped them off. So reading it pretty much left me saying “Guh? Duh? Muh?” I’d probably enjoy reading it if I knew anything at all about the Doom Patrol’s history.
Anyway, the reviews!
Amazing Spider-Man #601

They’re not finished with this Ben Reilly storyline yet? Dammit. Read the rest of this entry »

So the solicitation for this cover goes:
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils & Cover by BUTCH GUICE
Steve Rogers has returned, but Bucky Barnes is the current Captain America, and has come into his own in the role. Will there be two Captain Americas? Will Bucky go back to being the Winter Soldier? What will happen? Decisions, decisions, decisions….
Who else thinks this will be one long “You take the shield Steve,” and then “No, Bucky, you’ve earned it,” repeated ad nauseam?
Know what I wanna see? I wanna see Bucky keep on being Captain America and then Steve Rogers taking over S.H.I.E.L.D. and kicking Norman Osborn’s ass through the streets of New York. And Rogers can basically rebuild the superhero community to pre-Civil War status quo.
Now that would be righteous.

Reviews: Captain America Reborn #2, Amazing Spider-Man #601, Justice League: Cry For Justice #2
Posted in DC, Marvel, ReviewsOkay, so this is the first time I’ll ever do a review for Comicgasm. I spend two weeks here doing nothing but stall, copy Chris Sims, take comic book panels out of context, and make the occasional gay joke or two. It’s time I write something real here.
Okay this is my pull list for this week:
Justice League: Cry For Justice #2
Man, this is NOT a good book.
James Robinson has been one of my favorite writers. And who doesn’t love the way he turned Krypto into the awesome super pet sidekick he’s supposed to be? I was so excited for this book ever since it was announced.
The art is as always, gorgeous, and I’m waiting for the concept of a proactive superhero team to work, without it becoming too violent and X-treme (X-Force, no matter how awesome you’ve been, you remind me too much of the Liefeld!90’s). Read the rest of this entry »
