Shock confession time: Man of Steel is one of my most-anticipated movies because, well, it’s directed by Zack Snyder, and with a script written by David S. Goyer, and with Chris Nolan as producer, there’s absolutely no way this movie can go wrong.

Now we have the first look at the guy playing Clark Kent/Superman, Henry Cavill, in costume as the title character. Click on the image to embiggen:

Personally, I think it’s absolutely badass. I love that they’re using the Earth-Two Superman logo for this suit too.

Not a fan of the textured look (I think it worked better in The Amazing Spider-Man, though) but I’m willing to give that particular design mistake a pass, mainly because you know they’re not going to pussify Superman, unlike that other recent movie.

I have a feeling that the upcoming and eagerly anticipated Thor film will suck, or at its best will be an inoffensive comic book adaptation packaged in a summer movie, but it’s not stopping me from getting excited by all the Thor news coming my way. Here’s the new trailer of the movie, and I like it so far, even though I can see all the bad reviews coming a mile away.

It definitely is no Iron Man, but I’m hoping it won’t end up in Ghost Rider territory. What do you think?

First off, I would like to say hello. The name is Francis Cabal, and I am the new writer for Comicgasm. I shall specialize in writing articles about the comics outside of “The Big 2″. I shall write about independent comic books, lesser-known graphic novels, and other comic books that exist in the fringes of the industry. Don’t worry, I have the credibility to back it up. It truly is an honor, being asked to join the Comicgasm staff. Then of course, Ade is my friend and I’m into comics, so this doesn’t really come as a big surprise. Sadly, the proverbial Yin of my joining Comicgasm is accompanied by some sad news. By now you must’ve heard of Harvey Pekar’s passing. Pekar is quite influential not just to me and my outlook and the way I write, but  the entire comic book world. So I guess it’s fitting that I finish this entry with a small tribute to Harvey Pekar, one of the champions of independent comic books.

I’m probably one of those people who didn’t exactly like Wonder Woman’s iconic costume. To put it nicely, but it was… horrible. She was a Greek goddess living on Themyscira, and she goes off into man’s world wearing a bikini with the star-spangled banner plastered over it. She looks like she came from Sarah Palin’s wet dreams or something. Also, let the mental image of Sarah Palin having wet dreams incapacitate you with horror for a moment.

Now, thanks to writer J. Michael Strazincksi Stracin Stra Straczynski and DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee, everyone’s favorite Amazonian Princess is getting a revamped origin and a brand new costume:
