Honestly, I wasn’t too fond of this week’s comic book releases. Also, my weekend was a drunken haze and I don’t have time to review anything else, so I’m going for what I consider this week’s best comic: Flash Rebirth #5.

Who else agrees with me that the first three issues of Flash Rebirth was a mess? Barry was whining like crazy (I seriously wonder why Hal didn’t knock some sense into Barry), speedsters were dying in an attempt to create tension, and the death of Barry’s mom was shoehorned into the storyline while it made no sense at all.

This issue finally comes along and explans why Barry’s angsting all this time, and why his mom’s dead when it was established in previous continuity that his parents were alive to see Wally take up the mantle. Yeah the Reverse Flash was responsible for every bad shit that happened in Barry’s life. Heck, he even broke Barry’s arm in 6th grade. I mean, wtf, you have the power to go back in time and you push a kid down a flight of stairs? That motherfucker. Read the rest of this entry »

Honestly, I didn’t find most of this week’s releases great. I got an overpriced copy of Doom Patrol #4 (courtesy of RJ) so I can get that blasted Sinestro Corps Ring. Honestly I don’t know anything much about Doom Patrol except that the X-Men ripped them off. So reading it pretty much left me saying “Guh? Duh? Muh?” I’d probably enjoy reading it if I knew anything at all about the Doom Patrol’s history.

So I have my comic book stash for the week ready, but I just can’t do my reviews just yet. Too lazy. So instead of making some half-assed review that’ll probably incite some nerd rage, let me just plug this event for you instead:

Yeah, Black Market EX. Personally, I’m not a toy collector (not that I don’t want to be one, but it’s an expensive hobby and I might have to let go of a girl or two from my harem because of the expenses) but I could see by now that it’s going to be pretty freaking sweet. Hey there sports fans. This is Ade, and I’ve finally found the time to sit down and review some comics for you guys. I noticed that DC’s getting massive coverage in this here blog (and it shouldn’t be a surprise, really, considering three out of three editors here are big DC fans).

So I’m going to make it a point to review as many Marvel Comics here as humanly possible. And this week, I’m going to review the two Ultimate Comics that came out this week.

You see, these comics are peculiar. The Ultimate line, after that godawful crossover called Ultimatum (the less said about it the better, really), has been rebranded as “Ultimate Comics.” Personally, I find the rebranding a bit weird, but I can’t really put my finger on it.

Anyway, we’re not here to discuss the merits of Marvel’s latest rebranding effort. We’re here to talk about comics!

Okay, so the Comicgasm crew (that’s me and two other guys… what) just came back from the Metro Comic-Con last weekend, and we’re still not finished collecting our thoughts. Okay, we’re actually trying to steal some pictures off Multiply and Flickr, but whatever.

Anyway, I just went to day 1, and I had a blast. Lots of geek stuff, hot cosplaying women who turned out to be underage PLS TO NOT SIC THE COPS ON ME, and scantily-dressed women bending over to a statue of Ultimate Captain America.
