For those who know don’t know my stance when to comics in other media, I have really high standards when it comes to these things. However, I am usually open minded and I try to be as optimistic as possible when it comes to future releases. That’s why I’m very excited about the Watchme film and even try to calm fellow comic geeks who RAGES too much about how it’s going to be as failtastic as the V for Vendetta adaptation with only the trailer as their basis.
But then I saw this: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3168969&p=1&sec=PREVIEWS

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!
The main question Watchmen fans might be asking themselves is how do you make an action game out of a graphic novel with little action? The answer is simple when you realize that, as a prequel, Watchmen (the game) dials back the years to when the game’s dual, playable characters, Rorschach and Nite Owl, are younger, trimmer, more physically fit versions of their older, graphic novel counterparts.
So we get to play as either Rorschach or Nite Owl. Sounds pretty cool, but with the track record of movie-based games, I don’t think this will go well. I am NOT happy with this. Not happy at all. I’m trying to be as optimistic about this as humanly possible, but COME ON! What was the last decent comic-based-movie-videogame that you’ve played? What was the last GOOD movie-based game you played? Huh? HUH? WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME? WHY!?
If it helps sooth your ANGER and RAGE, they have at least used respected comic figures in the game:
If you’re wondering who could possibly replace the much-revered Alan Moore in the scripting department — as the story is the lynchpin upon which the whole Watchmen experience pivots — comic fans will be glad to know that respected comic veteran, Len Wein (co-creator of DC’s Swamp Thing and Marvel’s Wolverine characters), is on board to provide the dialogue, while original Watchmen illustrator, Dave Gibbons, is lending his insights as the game’s advisor.
All I did when I saw this was type RAGE multiples times in CAPSLOCK and started spamming forums and my friends who are still awake.
But then I saw THIS:

HOSHIT! WE GET TO BEAT UP PEOPLES WITH RORSCHACH!
I am now conflicted as well o_o But what I really want to know is Alan Moore’s reaction to this.

comicbookgeek Said,
I didn’t really care much about this when I first heard about it. Heh. I like the direction to go download-able instead of a traditional full-priced disc game though.
-
Ade Said,
I know what Alan Moore would say. He’d go: MEH.

Bazookaman Said,
Admit it gais. Even though you know it’ll be terrible, you’’still buy/download this game. You’ll feel very ashamed while doing so, though.
